1) New media fluency- Increase my comfort level in working with forms of new media that I am already familiar with. Create more advanced projects using Photoshop, Illustrator, the laser engraver and the vinyl cutter. Push my knowledge to new levels using online tutorials and the expertise of my classmates.
2) Expanded knowledge of new technologies- Develop a base knowledge of new technologies that I have not worked with before. Become more comfortable with 3D modeling programs, 3D printers, 3D scanners, Arduino microprocessors, and the CNC machines. Have completed less advanced projects on each of these by the end of the semester.
3) Develop teaching abilities- Hone my teaching skills by helping other students in the class with the new technologies that I am more comfortable with. Develop lesson plans that can be used in the classroom to introduce students to new technologies. Have a clear picture of how to incorporate new technologies into any kind of classroom and how to work around funding or administrative support issues.
4) Maximize time- Spend as much time as possible in the Myers Media Art Studio and Thingspace working on the computers, learning the programs, and understanding the different machines and tools available. End the semester without feeling like I missed an opportunity to work with something unique that I wouldn't normally have access to.
Your LO's show great curiosity and attitude as well as care for others (care is the mother of teaching IMO). Knowing how fast a semester passes by, make sure to make conscious choices so you have greater chance to meet your expecatations.
